Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has bagged the Rs 415 crore contract from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to construct a water tunnel in Mumbai. The company has received letter of acceptance for BMC for construction of 90-feet deep tunnel from Maroshi (Andheri) to Ruparel College (Matunga) and on completion of its construction in the year 2012, the tunnel will supply 1,100 million litres of water per day to various parts of the city.
This the second major order bagged by HCC from BMC for water tunnel construction. On completion of its construction in 2010, this pipeline will bring additional 378.54 million litres of water per day to various parts of the city.
